I’m engaged and I’m getting married! A few weeks ago my boyfriend, co-homeowner, and Auxiliary Magazine co-editor asked me to marry him during a cozy evening in on a cold winter night. It was sweet and simple and after ten plus years together, we are very excited to really be planning the wedding we have been playfully talking about for so long.
I didn’t really think I’d get girly about getting married or plan a wedding with many traditional elements, but as we’ve started the process, I’m finding myself giddy about wedding planning. Always aiming to do live my life in an artistic and creative way, I am loving the styling aspects of wedding planning and the idea of throwing a big party to share the day with all our family and friends. So this is the first of many posts, as I blog my way through the next six months.
My fiancé knows me well, and decided due to my particular and specific tastes, I should be involved in shopping for my engagement ring. We went to the chain jewelry stores for ideas on styles. I searched the web and Etsy high and low for unique wedding jewelry designers and found many amazing rings. But in the end, we went with a local jeweler, Gem Design, within walking distance of our house. They custom designed a solitaire diamond in platinum as I envisioned. Plus with lifetime cleanings included, I can add that to my walk-able list of errands. Walking around the village is a break in my workday I truly enjoy.
I will be sharing photos on Instagram as well with our fancy tag #auxiliarywedding!

Hi jenny and Mike
You guys are an exception to the rule and I don’t think I could come up with a better example of two people that complete each other. I’m happy for you guys.
