Portraits for Chez Ann Salon
Once a month for about a year I had a standing photoshoot date with Master Hair Designer Erin Moser of Chez Ann Salon. She coordinated a series of portraits of loyal and interesting clients styled by many different hair stylists and makeup artists at Chez Ann. These are two of my favorites from the series!
Deanna Deadly PinUp for Auxiliary Magazine
Pinup photography is a lot of fun. When I shoot it, I aim to have my subject look sexy as well as strong, confident, powerful, and seductive. All of those in varying degrees depending on the specific mood of the shoot. I also aim to bring out the unique beauty in each of my subjects rather than conform to any beauty standards. When Deanna Deadly was passing close by, Auxiliary Magazine featured her as the August/September 2013 Issue PinUp. I shot this in my studio with a constructed set to give the impression of a location without too much distraction. Rose Mortem Designer Spotlight for Auxiliary Magazine
A tree grove, two wonderful models, a great hair and makeup team, a great assistant, the perfect jewelry from Adelina Mictlan, and beautiful gowns from Rose Mortem all came together for the Auxiliary Magazine February/March 2013 Issue Designer Spotlight on Rose Mortem. I wore a couple hats on set that day working as fashion stylist and creative director in addition to shooting. The trick is lots of planning ahead of the shoot so it all goes smoothly day of. I always love it when I get to style shoots, especially when there are pieces as stunning as these involved! You can see more of this fashion feature at auxiliarymagazine.com.
Jennifer and Richard’s Wedding
Today weddings are taking on many forms with many brides and grooms thinking outside the box and opting to for more unique and customized weddings that truly reflect them. Jennifer and Richard had rented out a camp ground for the weekend and asked their guests to join them for a camping wedding! Guests enjoyed campfires, crafts, and games. Groomsmen and bridesmaids were “camp counselors” and wore customized T-shirts. The groom wore a relaxed linen suit and sandals. The bride wore a handmade crochet dress. I shot their wedding photos around the lake in the center of the camp; it provided a beautiful setting.
Over the years I have been asked to shoot weddings hear and there. I have had the pleasure of shooting some unique and fun weddings and it has given me the desire to shoot more. If you are planning a unique wedding or know someone who is, consider a photographer who is used to unique and specific aesthetics! (AKA me!)
