I have some big news, my husband and I are expecting! After a couple years together as husband and wife we decided it was time to grow our family. Our newest family member, who we have playfully dubbed Poe for now, is well on their way and as of today I am 19 weeks along. I am loving being pregnant and luckily haven’t experienced too many symptoms!
To announce to the everyone we did pregnancy announcement photos with Jenn Ayres of Ayres Photography and we used the photos for a holiday card announcement that we mailed to family and friends. It was mid December when we decided we were ready to tell the world and that meant if the shoot was to be outdoors it would probably be in the snow. It sure was one snowy day! We had fun being silly in our own winter wonderland at Tifft Nature Preserve.
Of course I spent some thoughtful time styling our session and decided to go with a mostly natural and tones of gray color palette. My hair, my first maternity clothing purchase a bright red shirt, and bright red baby booties added pops of color. I did a little prop shopping and picked out the bright red shirt, the baby booties, a natural toned blanket, and a natural toned frame for our ultrasound photo. Then I looked through our wardrobes and found coats, boots, and winter accessories that would pair well. I also had cute white and silver mugs for hot chocolate on the blanket but it was quite the chilly day and we decided to skip that idea!
It was a truly magical morning that we’ll always remember. We saw several deer wandering the snow covered paths with us, lots of birds, bunny tracks, and the pine trees we posed in front of started a snow ball fight when the wind picked up and flung snow off their branches got me right in the neck and almost got Jenn right in the face and camera!
I’ll be blogging about our pregnancy and sharing some photos on Instagram with the hashtag #expectingpoe! If you’d like to read more personal blogs, take a look at the blogs I wrote about getting married.
