Went out early morning last week to see the cherry blossoms at the Japanese Garden of Buffalo! Since we are in the middle of isolation due to the pandemic, my daughter Odette is my little subject til I can shoot again. I hope I can do a day of cherry blossom mini sessions this time next year!

Calvin’s 5 Year Portrait Session
Calvin came to his shoot reluctant to have his photo taken. And this is the case for many many preschool and kindergarten age kids! But we always get fun portraits that really show his personality! He keeps me on my toes and makes me great creative with ways of taking photos. We did his pose ideas, a scavenger hunt for books, a little reading time, some portraits with mom, and some playtime outside all during his session to help him be comfortable.
Dark Magician Style for Auxiliary Magazine
Some of my fashion work was recently published in the Winter 2019 Issue of Auxiliary Magazine! I shot and styled the Dark Magician Style feature which featured designs by Heavy Red and SteampunkBoutique. I also wrote a short additional content piece for their website which you can read here. This was a fun feature to do and definitely has me itching to do some more editorial fashion work soon!
mom life : Odette’s Pumpkin Farm Visit
This past fall my daughter and I spent a warm October afternoon at the pumpkin farm. I snapped some photos for a mini session. She had to touch every pumpkin! She walked around in awe for over an hour. Such a wonderful time and happy to have found some time to catch up and share these.
Odette’s Cake Smash Session
My daughter Odette was 1 years old and of course I needed to do the cutest Cake Smash Session with her! We did it on white in my studio for a bright look. I added some white balloons for a bit of visual interest. To get more use out of her birthday outfit and decor and to have this session match the look of her birthday party, she wore her birthday party outfit and the banner for her high chair doubled as a backdrop for this session. The dress and headband are from Jade & Jo Studio and the banner and cake topper are from The Birthday Boutique. Sweet Beginnings had made her birthday cake so the week after her birthday party I had them make a little smash cake in the same style.
We set everything up and sat her down next to her cake and let her do what she will! She was a little unsure and needed some coaxing. Definitely didn’t just go right in. At points she was unsure what to do about being covered in frosting. But she eventually dug in and got some mouthfuls and kicked off her shoes and got her feet dirty too! Since it was one hot summer day we had her little pool all ready to go and took her out there at the end to clean off and play.
