This summer I shot the athletic wear fashion editorial Suspend for Auxiliary Magazine’s Summer 2016 Issue. We had been wanting to do an athletic wear editorial for a while and when it occurred to our fashion editor Shannon Kramp that one of the model’s we’ve featured many times in Auxiliary, Samm Haney, was an aerial dancer, it all fell into place. We contacted Buffalo Aerial Dance and through them had a location and two more models, Anastasia Maria and founder Erica Cope.

Sheer Terror Style for Auxiliary Magazine
This Sheer Terror Style feature for Auxiliary Magazine’s Spring 2016 Issue was a little bit different than past ones I have shot. I have been shooting the Style feature for the last few issues of Auxiliary and this time around we decided to go with photos where the model is smiling. Not very common in fashion photography where things tend to be more serious but the detail upper body shots for this feature allow for some playfulness. The focus of this Style feature is sheer clothing and the overall styling had a faint 90s vibe that really paired well with smiling and laughing photos.
Rockabilly Rebel Style for Auxiliary Magazine
Back in July I shot the Rockabilly Rebel Style feature for Auxiliary Magazine’s Summer 2016 Issue. Shannon Kramp, Auxiliary’s Fashion Editor, styled this installment and Meagan Hendrickson, Auxiliary’s original Fashion Editor, modeled. It was fun having Auxiliary fashion old and new united! Meagan was a perfect fit for the Rockabilly Rebel look which focused on rockabilly fashion with a rebellious, tough, dark edge. Working at rockabilly fashion and pinup store Cats Like Us and writing her gothy blog Coffin Kitsch meant this style was right up Meagan’s alley. We like to feature models in Auxiliary that really fit the look and even embody it as lifestyle is a big part of Auxiliary too.
Witchy Dress Must for Auxiliary Magazine
I shot the Fall 2015 Must feature for Auxiliary Magazine with Cats Like Us store owner Julie Ann Davis. I choose a Hell Bunny dress from their shop and was very excited to photograph her freshly colored orange hair. We shot on location by the Erie Canal where is travels through North Tonawanda.
Holiday Card for Cats Like Us
The team at Cats Like Us came to me with the idea to do a take on the “awkward family photo” for their holiday postcard. We did a shoot in my studio with the shop owners Julie Ann and Andrew and their sales associate Meagan but since the store is called Cats Like Us, the cats had to be involved too! I had photographed them before and they did not enjoy the experience. So to make things easier on them I came over to Julie Ann and Andrew’s house to photograph their cats as they lounged around their home. Since all we needed were good shots of their cute faces, this approach worked well!
