It was a pleasure to photograph Nora’s Cake Smash Session after doing her Newborn Session a year ago! We went to Stiglmeier Park and the light and wildflowers were perfect. I’m really loving this location lately. Big sister even got involved. So cute! This set up was put together by mom and it came together great but kept it simple enough with just the right pieces: a blanket, a crate, wooden letters, pumpkins as vases, and some flowers.

Odette’s Cake Smash Session
My daughter Odette was 1 years old and of course I needed to do the cutest Cake Smash Session with her! We did it on white in my studio for a bright look. I added some white balloons for a bit of visual interest. To get more use out of her birthday outfit and decor and to have this session match the look of her birthday party, she wore her birthday party outfit and the banner for her high chair doubled as a backdrop for this session. The dress and headband are from Jade & Jo Studio and the banner and cake topper are from The Birthday Boutique. Sweet Beginnings had made her birthday cake so the week after her birthday party I had them make a little smash cake in the same style.
We set everything up and sat her down next to her cake and let her do what she will! She was a little unsure and needed some coaxing. Definitely didn’t just go right in. At points she was unsure what to do about being covered in frosting. But she eventually dug in and got some mouthfuls and kicked off her shoes and got her feet dirty too! Since it was one hot summer day we had her little pool all ready to go and took her out there at the end to clean off and play.
Odette’s 1 Year Portrait Session
It was time for my daughter Odette’s 1 Year Portrait Session and we did both a simple session in my studio along with a Cake Smash Session. I wanted photos that would just show her and her latest still standing and walking! You get a wonderful set of photos showing off the first year milestones when you do a session every 3 months; newborn, 3 months showing holding up their head, 6 months showing sitting up, 9 months showing standing holding on, and 1 year showing standing alone!
